THE DOOMSTER'S MONOLITHIC POCKET ALPHABET IS LIGHTHEARTED & GLOOMY
Feature and interview by David Brothers
"There's this epic quality in doom metal, both musically and aesthetically, that always thrilled me," explained Prasidis. "It's massive and imposing. Everything from it's album covers, to its lyrical concepts, to its incorporation of horror, fantasy, and sci-fi elements is very dear to me. Picture books on the other hand, are usually light-themed, kid-friendly, fancily illustrated and quick reads. The contradictory factor of writing one about something as dark and heavy as doom metal is what actually intrigued me."
"I approached this as something I'd want to read myself," he said. "People from the wider doom, stoner and psychedelic rock fanbase will definitely enjoy reading it. It can also appeal to comic book readers, due to its wild handcrafted visualisation by Maarten."
